Lady Rattlers fall to Gardner-Webb and Campbell


Despite losing to Gardner-Webb 21-165 and Campbell 21-166, the Lady Rattlers all posted Top 10 times in their events again for the second straight week. Freshman Alexandra Age grabbed some new rankings. She finished fourth in the 400 individual medley in a time of 5:24.97, that ranks her second in the Women's Top Ten in that event. She then moved into the fourth spot with her eighth place finish in the in 200 yard backstroke (2:26.09). Also making top ten times includes sophomore’s Bria Bennett in the 200 butterfly (8th Kelle’ Wyatt in the 200 breaststroke (10th) , and Jasmine Leslie in the 500 freestyle (9th). Leslie also shaved off over a second from her personal best last season. Senior Yolanda Baylor rounded out the performances moving up to 9th in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:45.42.
On the men’s side, Gardner-Webb defeated the Rattlers by a score of 35-94. Freshman Nijyl Chavis lead the way with his 4th place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke in a time of 2:37.23, which ranks him 9th in the men’s top 10 university times in that event.
The Women and Men will be back in action Homecoming week against Florida State at 3pm at the Morcom Aquatics Center.
