Lady Ospreys fly past Lady Rattlers


The Lady Rattlers swimming team opened up the 2009-10 season against Coastal Collegiate Swimming Assocation (CCSA) conference opponent University of North Florida on Saturday, October 10th at the Morcom Aquatics Center in Innovation Park. The Lady Rattlers were outscored 25-151 by the Lady Ospreys.



Leading the way for the Lady Rattlers (0-1, 0-1) was Freshman Alexandra Age. The Louisana native started the day by leading off the 200 yard Medley Relay team with a 50 yard backstroke split of :31.23. Then in her first collegiate individual event, Age finished fourth in 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:24.02.
Her time in that event ranks her fifth all-time in the FAMU Women's Swimming Top Ten. She rounded out the afternoon with a third palce finish in the 100 yard backstoke. Her time of 1:07.01 also made the All time Top Ten ranks at fourth.

During her first collegiate event, Sophomore Bria Bennett also broke into the Women's Top 10 with her fourth place finish in the Women’s 100 yard butterfly.

Her time of 1:13.51 ranks her sixth overall. She started the day providing the buttefly leg of the 200 medley relay then turning in a fifth place finish in the 50 yard freestyle in a time of :28.07.

Next up for the Rattlers will be a trip to the corbett SPorts Complex in Greensboro, NC to compete in the HBCU relay meet on October 16th, 2009 on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University and then a tri meet versuses CCSA opponents Garnder-Webb University and Campbell University on October 17th, 2009 in Boiling Springs, Nc no the campus of Garnder-Webb University.
