Rattlers outpaced by Seminoles


On the eve of the FAMU Homecoming Football Game against Norfolk State the next day, the men's and women's swimming teams competed against the Florida State Seminoles on friday afternoon at Morcom Aquatics Center. The Seminoles men's team won 79 to 58 and the women by a score of 76 to 47.
Freshman Alexandra Age continued her outstanding freshman season against the Seminoles. After splitting a personal best of :30.50 on the Women's 200 yard Medley Relay team, she continued to shave time off by dropping a second in the 200 IM. She rounded out her day with a fourth place finish in the 100 yard freestyle. Her time of :57.24 ties her for the seventh spot on the Women's Top Ten in that event.
Sophomore Jasmine Leslie had the largest time drop of the day in the 500 yard freestyle. She dropped six seconds off her best time in the event for a fifth place finish.
The Rattler Men were led by Freshman Alphonso Byrd. The Ft. Lauderdale native posted season best times in both of his events. He started out with a sixth place finish in the 50 yard freestyle posting a time of :23.89, which is a half second faster than his previous time this season. Then he finished seventh in the 100 yard freestyle, bettering his time to :55:51.

The Rattler swim teams will finish out the fall semester with a central Florida road trip for two dual meets. First, they will take on Division 2 powerhouse University of Tampa on Friday November 13 at 3:30pm and then head over to St. Leo University on Saturday at 2pm for the final competition of the semester.
