Coach Carrington Speaks at Potomac Valley Swimming First Annual - College Knowledge Event 10/31/09


In an effort to educated prospective student-athletes and parents in our sport, Potomac Valley Swimming, a Local Swimming Committe of USA Swimming, hosted the first Annual "College Knowledge Event" at Howard University's Blackburn Center Forum Room
in Washington, DC on October 31st, 2009 from 12:30 to 3pm.
The Event was collaboration between club and college coaches to educate those involved with our sport on how to transistion from high school to college.
The Event include discussions on the following topics:
1. An overview of the NCAA recruiting process
2. What to do each year of High School
3. Athletic Compliance – The rules of the recruiting process Div I and II athletics
4. Club Outlook on College Swimming and the Role of the Head Coach in the Recruitment Process
5. Transition from Club to College
6. What are College Coaches look for?
7. Role of the Coaching Staff – What to expect
8. Current College Swimmers and Parents - Lessons Learned and Advice

Coach Carrington, along with Matt Salerno, Head Swimming Coach at Howard University spoke during the college coaches forum. Each of the coaches took the time to speak on what college coaches are looking for, the NCAA rules that must be followed in recruiting, and answered alot of questions from swimmers and parents.
